Wide wide wide screen
Alex Grigg's post-apocalyptic micro-epic, a colossal spectacle dominating Hong Kong's SOGO Causeway Bay with its stonking 72 by 19-metre CVISION LED screen, demanded a similarly grand approach.
Custom made for the mega CVISION LED wall on the SOGO Causeway Bay department store, a whopping 72 by 19 metre screen.
Taking cues from the story, we opted for cultish future primitive instrumentation, evoking religious fervour by suggesting (but not adhering to) a Balinese Pelog scale. The harmonic content gradually darkens with the introduction of an ominous semitone motif and is only fully revealed with a wrenching, monstrous diminished chord on the climactic idol reveal shot.
